This role is best filled by someone with significant senior management or management level consulting experience who feels comfortable with and speaks the language of both IT and Business management. This consultant works with the engagement sponsors to scope and plan the work. They also work to ensure the activities are appropriate for the culture and structure of the client organization. This consultant prepares and delivers key presentations based on input from other team members. The Management Consultant may also temporarily fill management roles within a client during times of transition and organizational development.
This key consultant is responsible for the execution of strategic priorities or mission imperative programs within a client’s portfolio. Program Directors will lead large programs with resources in the range of 50-100+ full time equivalents. Within the strategic or mission imperative programs, the Program Director or Manager will often manage a portfolio of projects. This consultant will be responsible for building and sustaining strong relationships with our client’s project sponsors, partners and other stakeholders; manage communication of business strategy and plan across audiences as appropriate for the program; identify and facilitate project management team members to manage individual projects included in program portfolio; oversee project financials, schedules, deliverables and issues. This consultant may also provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to senior level client resources. The may also provide training to project managers seeking mastery level project management skill. This consultant is accountable to senior client leadership to assure strategic objectives and financial goals are met through programs and projects within the portfolio.
The Project Manager consultant is primarily responsible for the delivery of business objectives, through assigned projects, while maintaining time, scope, quality, and budget. This consultant works closely with the project sponsor/steward, seeking vision vs. day to day direction. This consultant develops the funding documents, creates the project plans, assigns tasks to project personnel, monitors staff and the project, manages risks, escalates issues from project teams and controls budgets. Communication to affected leadership and stakeholders as well as the project team assigned is paramount to success in this role. The role may have opportunities to coach less experienced Project Managers. This consultant is accountable for driving to vision, direction, and scope for Programs/Projects assigned.
